The piece
Saba is a puppet created during the coronavirus quarantine. In a difficult period of depression, the process of making the puppet became a way out of it — and as the puppet took shape, so did his story.
Saba is an 82-year-old man who returns to his hometown of Bethlehem after many years of exile, carrying childhood memories and a deep yearning for the familiar details of his city. Walking its streets and alleys, long-forgotten stories return to him — and he shares them over cups of coffee with cultural and artistic figures, in a series of short episodes drawing on the deep historical wealth of his guests.
