In a little room in an apartment building in a border area, a married couple has lived for more than seventeen years. Ionesco chose to call them He and She — we never learn their names, but through the play we learn a great deal about them.

Based on Ionesco's A Couple Talks, this absurdist black comedy seems at first a realistic play about marital problems, then opens into political and social conflict — inviting the audience to imagine, analyse and read between the lines.
